Physician, Family Practice or Internal Medicine (Board Certified/Board Eligible)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician, Family Practice or Internal Medicine to join our team at the VA Hospital and Clinics. As a board-certified/board-eligible physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and staying up-to-date with the latest medical guidelines and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Function as a full team member of the interdisciplinary team serving civilian and military patients at the VA Hospital and Clinics.
  • Provide history, physical examination, diagnosis, and initiation of medical treatment.
  • Follow-up office visits for existing medical problems with appropriate diagnostic tests and medication adjustments.
  • Referral of patients as needed to appropriate VA specialists/services or other appropriate health care services.
  • Document assessments and plan of care for each patient in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Act as a consultant in clinical practice. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Collaborate and act as a patient advocate. Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods.
  • Physicians shall be available to accept patient results to be communicated via phone after hours by the lab.
  • Work cooperatively with VA Physicians, CRNAs, Advanced Practice Nurses (APN), Nurse Practitioners (NP), Physician Assistants (PA), Registered Nurses (RN), Anesthesia Technicians and a variety of allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive health care services to patients.
  • Evaluate and treat approximately 10 patients each 8-hour shift.
  • Medical complexities vary and include cardiovascular, GI, pulmonary, orthopedic, and/or surgical patients.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Valid medical license to practice as a Family Physician or Internal Medicine.
  • Board certification/eligible in Family Medicine and/or Internal Medicine.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a family practice setting.
  • Familiarity with current medical guidelines and best practices.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat a wide variety of medical conditions.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
  • Ability to manage a diverse patient population.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of medical practices, treatments, and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and patient management skills.
  • Empathy and compassion in patient care.
