Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our perioperative department.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient care activities and perform selected perioperative technical procedures under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Work cooperatively with other healthcare team members to facilitate the delivery of patient care.
  • Collaborate with RNs and other healthcare workers to maintain standards for perioperative nursing practice in the clinical setting.
  • Perform procedures for patients after competency determined and provide technical services and support.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved surgical technology program.
  • Must read, write, speak, and comprehend fluent English.
  • Must have basic computer skills with the ability to advance to intermediate computer skills.
  • Prefer reference of stable work history.
  • Prefer knowledge of hospital work setting.
  • Able to function in a team setting with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous operating room surgical technology experience preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) within one year of employment.
