CDL Underground Laborer

Job Summary:
The CDL Underground (UG) Laborer plays a vital role in the construction, maintenance, and operation of underground telecommunications infrastructure as directed by the Foreman and/or Supervisor. This individual will be responsible for executing all stages of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivering, excavating, removing, and placing diverse construction materials and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and have a commitment to accuracy and high standards for quality of work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executes all stages of underground construction, involving loading, driving, delivering, excavating, removing, and placing diverse construction materials and equipment
- Conducts manual digging using shovels and mechanical tools for excavation purposes
- Installs and upholds underground telecommunications cabling, ensuring proper placement and secure installations
- Safely enters and exits equipment, including trucks, cars, backhoes, and trenchers
- Operates heavy machinery and equipment proficiently and safely
- Manages property flagging and worksite restoration procedures to ensure organized project completion
Requirements:
- Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- A valid California driver's license, subject to successful verification through a DMV check, is mandatory
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and medical card in good standing
- Proficiency in operating a variety of utility trucks and equipment safely and effectively
- Skill in handling tools and equipment securely and efficiently
- Consistent and punctual attendance is crucial for this role
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in the telecommunication sector
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities
