Clinical Lead for Endovascular Nursing

Operating Room RN Clinical Supervisor Endovascular

OVERVIEW


As the primary expert in the service line, you will collaborate with surgeons, clinical staff, and relevant support teams to ensure that the equipment and supply requirements for the service are fulfilled.

Additionally, you will assess and strategize for future needs regarding equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Prior leadership experience is advantageous.

Experience in the Operating Room with a focus on Vascular and Endovascular procedures is highly recommended.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver direct patient care, executing procedures and tasks specific to the patient demographic of the unit. Act as a role model for other staff in the provision of direct patient care.
  • Conduct daily patient rounds and perform random chart audits. Utilize opportunities to educate and mentor nursing personnel. Collaborate effectively with Faculty to understand service-based requirements and assist in the onboarding of new Faculty in the surgical environment.
  • Support staff in meeting established productivity benchmarks as appropriate. Review staffing assignments and adjust as necessary to address the specific needs of patients on a shift-by-shift basis.
  • Exhibit effective problem-solving skills and actively engage in identifying and resolving complaints from physicians, patients, or families. Report issues and interventions to the Clinical Nurse Manager promptly to ensure adequate follow-up. Escalate unresolved situations to the Nurse Manager immediately. Provide feedback to staff regarding their performance.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and readiness to cover shifts during staffing shortages.
  • Act as the service line authority. Ensure that the service-based equipment and supply needs are met by collaborating with relevant support departments. Assist in forecasting and planning for future equipment, instruments, and supply requirements.
  • Oversee the generation of event reports during assigned duty hours. Investigate facts as feasible. Ensure timely submission of these reports and follow-up by the Clinical Nurse Manager. Notify the Nurse Manager/Risk Manager immediately of high-risk scenarios.
  • Participate actively in routine and special patient care conferences. Encourage the professional development of nursing staff by providing opportunities for involvement in unit-based activities, patient care decisions, or hospital committees.
  • Contribute to peer annual performance evaluations and orientation assessments of nursing personnel assigned to the unit. Assist in the planning and coordination of staff orientation to core service lines, including equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with scheduling and daily assignments as required.
  • Assume delegated responsibilities for inventory management of equipment and supplies to ensure safe and effective patient care. Facilitate the timely return of specialized equipment.
  • Support staff meetings, special projects, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of performance improvement initiatives. Participate in hospital workgroups as requested.
  • Responsibilities may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Direct interaction with or care for patients; b) Direct interaction with or care for human-subjects research participants; c) Regular maintenance, modification, or release of patient records (including financial records); or d) Regular maintenance, modification, or release of human-subjects research records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Operating Room RN is required.
A current Texas (or BNE Compact State) nursing license is necessary.
A BSN and specialty certification are preferred.
A graduate of an NLN accredited nursing program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Able to operate and troubleshoot standard/basic equipment within the department.
Frequent walking, standing, bending, turning, and stopping are required. Must be capable of lifting and repositioning patients.
