Columbia Energy & Environmental Services is a leading provider of full-service engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation, and controls.

We are currently seeking a highly experienced Principal Level Electrical/I&C Engineer to join our team in Idaho Falls, ID.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to advance their career and take on leadership roles, mentoring junior staff, acting as discipline lead for projects, and managing design/build/test projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor junior engineers and staff, fostering professional development and growth.
  • Oversee technical aspects of projects, ensuring project success.
  • Identify and evaluate solutions for complex projects involving nuclear and hazardous waste remediation, chemical processing, and commercial development.
  • Develop P&IDs and handle all aspects of Instrumentation and Controls.
  • Design and analyze systems in accordance with established codes and standards.
  • Specify and integrate hardware and software components.
  • Program PLCs and provide support to multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Collaborate with designers to produce detailed design drawings.
  • Generate test plans/procedures and support system testing.
  • Maintain configuration and control of baseline drawings and documents.
  • Communicate task status and progress, ensuring timely completion.
  • Review project design inputs and outputs to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in control system design.
  • Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficiency with PLCs and experience troubleshooting problems with instrumentation and monitoring systems.
  • Ability to focus on project needs and delivery schedules.

About the Role:

This position involves working primarily in an office environment with occasional work in the company's Fabrication Shop and off-site locations. Occasional travel may be required.

Compensation: $120k - $170k based on experience.
