Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Overnight Camp Nurse to join our team at the YMCA Of Greater Hartford. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, providing medical care and attention to children and staff during the summer months.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary of $14,000 per season, commensurate with experience.

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the health and wellbeing of all campers and staff. This includes reviewing health records, tracking special needs and medications, maintaining medical logs, and administering appropriate medical care and treatment. You will also be responsible for communicating with parents and staff regarding health issues, consulting with directors on duty, and assisting with camper check-in and check-out.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review health records of campers and ensure completeness
  • Track and record special needs, medications, and dietary concerns
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical logs
  • Administer medication and provide medical care as needed
  • Communicate with parents and staff regarding health issues
  • Consult with directors on duty regarding health-related matters
  • Assist with camper check-in and check-out
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. A strong understanding of medical procedures and protocols is essential, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
