Telemetry Nurse

As a Telemetry Nurse at Carrollton Regional Medical Center, you will play a vital role in monitoring the vital signs of cardiac patients to ensure their stability and provide the necessary care. With your expertise in operating and reading electrocardiograms, you will provide critical care to patients, administer medications, and titrate IV medications as needed. You will work closely with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
Responsibilities:
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications, orally, subcutaneously, or through an IV, and record them accurately.
- Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
- Identify irregular telemetry readings and notify the appropriate medical team members.
- Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
- Provide basic, bedside care and initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician.
- Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and rehabilitation.
- Perform and interpret EKGs, recognizing lethal rhythms, and record patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Prepare equipment and aid the physician during examination and treatment of patients.
- Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
- Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with current licensure in good standing.
- Minimum of one year of current Telemetry experience in a hospital setting.
- Evidence of current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS mandatory.
