Biology Teacher Job Description

At Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Biology Teacher to join our AgSTEM faculty. As a Biology Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching courses in biology and life science, including cells and their structures and functions, anatomy, and biology in the environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans based on the curriculum framework.
  • Teach scholars from different backgrounds, with varying aptitudes and interests.
  • Evaluate scholar performance and keep evaluation records up to date.
  • Communicate effectively with scholars, staff, and parents or guardians.
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching skills and stay current with best practices.
Requirements:
  • Degree in biology or science.
  • Master's degree preferable.
  • Degree in secondary education with a focus in biology also acceptable.
  • Relevant teaching license or certification recommended.
  • Previous teaching experience advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and cultural sensitivity.
