Job Summary

We are seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach courses in our Doctoral Programs in Social Work at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background and teaching experience in social work education.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses as scheduled, utilizing a variety of teaching methods to engage students and promote learning.
  • Provide timely, individualized, and supportive feedback on student work, helping students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate concerns regarding student participation, comportment, and performance with the student and the program director, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Utilize the Canvas learning management system to monitor discussion boards, post announcements, and grade assignments, ensuring that students have access to all necessary course materials and resources.
Requirements
  • A DSW or Ph.D. in Social Work/Social Welfare or a doctoral degree in a related field, with a strong academic background and teaching experience in social work education.
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited social work program or a master's degree in a related field, with a strong understanding of social work principles and practices.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-MSW experience, with a proven track record of teaching excellence and a commitment to creating inclusive learning environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Interest and experience working with diverse student populations, with a commitment to creating inclusive learning environments.
  • Asynchronous and synchronous online teaching experience, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Demonstrated scholarship, expertise, and the ability to teach in one or more of the following content areas: practice, human behavior, policy, research, cultural diversity, and field.
  • Work experience that includes competencies, skills, and knowledge levels required for social work instruction, including experience with CANVAS learning management system or similar system.
  • Ability to manage the learning environment through effective record-keeping, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic, code of conduct, and attendance policies.
  • Commitment to promoting academic excellence and fostering social work values and ethics in students.
What We Offer
  • A competitive salary range of $4,500 - $7,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
