Software Systems Engineer

As a Software Systems Engineer, you'll play a critical role in our mission to deliver network capability that ensures the Army, with Unified Action partners, wins against any adversary in the most challenging contested and congested electromagnetic spectrum and cyber environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Streamline strategic and installation network operations to enhance security and data exchange through identity credentialing and access management (ICAM).
  • Recommend strategies to integrate network operations into a singular, simple, and intuitive user interface, enabling Signal Soldiers to plan, manage, monitor, configure, and secure the Army's Unified Network more efficiently.
  • Engage with stakeholders to analyze operational requirements, address network operations challenges, and recommend sound technology solutions to advance the state of NetOps and benefit the sponsor's mission.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and evaluate commercial technologies to inform recommendations.
  • Lead and direct trade studies and technical assessments to ensure the Army's Unified Network is secure, resilient, and effective.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Possess and maintain a minimum of Secret level security clearance.
  • Understanding of system development life cycles (SDLC) and system architecture.
  • Ability to analyze requirements, design solutions, and manage system integration.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools for system performance evaluation.
  • Familiarity with system design and acquisition, including Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA).
  • Experience with use of open standards, modular components, and interoperability.
  • Knowledge of agile software development processes for continuous updates.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices and testing, including requirements development, analysis & traceability, and requirements management.
  • Ability to write technical reports and/or present briefings of analysis, findings, and recommendations to Government sponsors.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to present highly technical material to a diverse audience.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Army's tactical communication systems used in field operations, including Lower Tier and Upper Tier.
  • Experience or knowledge of network equipment deployed in Tactical Networks, including radios.
  • Active TS/SCI.
