About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Macerich. As a key member of our property operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of our shopping centers, including the maintenance of physical assets, sustainability initiatives, and financial management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Physical Assets: Supervise and manage the routine performance of housekeeping and maintenance work, implement and administer preventative maintenance programs, and oversee the maintenance of physical assets to ensure they are maintained to required standards.
  • Sustainability and Energy Control: Supervise the implementation of the Macerich Sustainability and Strategic Energy Plan, manage energy management systems, and ensure daily optimal operational efficiency.
  • Financial: Assist with the development of the annual operations expense forecast, review and approve financial and expense documentation, and manage the administration of approved budgets.
  • Capital and CAM Projects: Develop and maintain documentation of capital and owner-related construction issues, manage the negotiation and approval of contracts, and actively manage the implementation of capital and owner-related projects.
  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Programs: Be responsible for the implementation and compliance of the EHS and safety program, communicate with tenants regarding hazardous waste and emergency procedures, and serve as the primary role of the mall safety coordinator.
  • Tenant Coordination: Manage all tenant and landlord buildout construction projects, serve as the primary liaison between mall team, merchants, contractors, and local agencies, and maintain knowledge of local building codes and permit processes.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 7 years combined experience in facility operations and commercial construction, preferably in retail real estate sector.
  • Highly self-motivated, able to prioritize multiple tasks with ease, and attentive to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn quickly and be comfortable with internal software systems like Yardi and 24/7.
  • Must demonstrate professional performance in personnel management and motivation, and possess a thorough knowledge of property operations, construction, and development-related areas.
  • Self-starter with little motivation and supervision required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders in excess of 20 feet and read blueprints.
