About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Mercy San Juan Medical Center. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for providing patient assessments, developing and implementing individual patient treatment programs, and providing therapeutic interventions utilizing current and effective methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients according to department protocol, completing evaluations within 48 hours of initiation.
  • Provide effective and adequate treatment, implementing treatment following department guidelines and ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness.
  • Modify goals and treatment as appropriate in relation to working toward goals, selecting appropriate treatment interventions and utilizing specialized techniques.
  • Address patient/family education, demonstrating a variety of teaching methods and ensuring methods are appropriate to the level of understanding.
  • Comply with department policy regarding documentation, completing documentation in a timely manner and reflecting all interventions used in treatment, ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness, and changes in goals and treatment plan as appropriate.
  • Communicate treatment plan and patient status with team and MD, participating in team conferences and addressing verification of payor guidelines/authorizations as needed.
  • Delegate to and supervise support staff and students, precepting internship students after meeting preceptor qualifications and leading by example by providing necessary and appropriate treatment plan for support staff/student to perform treatment.
  • Manage time effectively, complying with department policy for productivity and initiating and completing projects within established time frame.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a speech pathologist is preferred, current BLS certification is required, and the incumbent is required to exhibit the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Speech Pathology and current California State licensure is required, with a MA/MS degree.
  • Previous experience as a speech pathologist is preferred, and the incumbent must obtain CCC within 12 months of hire.
