We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at Bayhealth. This is a challenging and rewarding role that will allow you to utilize your expertise in general surgery to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). You will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in general surgery, with a focus on post-operative management of surgical patients.
In this role, you will work closely with our experienced surgeons and medical staff to provide high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include examining patients to determine the presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, and medical history to ascertain the nature and extent of illness, and prescribing treatments as indicated. You will also develop plans of care for patients in coordination with multidisciplinary teams and complete appropriate reports to physicians and family.
You will have the opportunity to participate in educational activities, research, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance and improve patient outcomes. Additionally, you will maintain accurate and confidential medical records, document all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with organizational standards in the electronic health record (EHR).

Responsibilities:
- Examines patients to determine presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, medical history, ascertains nature and extent of illness, prescribes treatments as indicated.

- May provide inpatient care, rounding on surgery patients, providing pre, peri, and post-op services.
- Takes appropriate action when medical complications arise.
- Maintains accurate and confidential medical records.
