The Plant Company is a leading innovator in the horticulture industry, and we are seeking a highly skilled R&D Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our research and development department, you will be responsible for evaluating new and existing plant varieties, leading shipping and cold storage investigations, and facilitating re-evaluations of products and plants during different seasons and as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop knowledge of our products and their production through literature reviews, internal collaborations, and assessments.
- Translate research questions into practical, testable hypotheses.
- Execute multiple, simultaneous collaborative applied research projects.
- Support the development of product specifications and quality metrics to deliver optimal product and process performance.
- Document experimental results from conceptualization through completion, including project proposals, observations, data analysis, and reports.
Requirements:
- Intrinsically motivated to provide fast, actionable results.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Demonstrated experience in experimental design and execution within biological and production systems.
- Applied knowledge in statistics, data management, and data visualization.
- Self-starter with ability to problem solve and good decision-making skills.
Working Conditions:
- General office environment works at a desk in a well-lit, air-conditioned, shared space with mild to moderate noise levels.
- The general production/greenhouse environment works with production and growing to facilitate the completion of trials.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, twist, turn, climb, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday.
- Working with and around approved agricultural chemicals and pesticides required.
