Banquet Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

The Banquet Manager is a key member of the Delavan Lake Lawn Management LLC team, responsible for overseeing the successful execution of banquet events and ensuring exceptional customer service. This role requires a strong leader with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the banquet and set-up areas, ensuring seamless execution of events.
  • Train and supervise staff, utilizing an ongoing training program to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Recruit and hire staff, utilizing proper interviewing and hiring procedures to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Act as liaison between Conference Services and Catering, and the group contact to ensure all specifications and expectations are met.
  • Process payroll and time information for associates, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Schedule staff consistent with volume of business and guest needs, within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure all conference and banquet space is set to resort standards and according to client specifications.
  • Implement and maintain high standards of cleanliness, temperature control, lighting, and overall appearance in designated areas.
  • Perform banquet bar consumption reports as necessary, and ensure all necessary steps have been completed in regards to client billing.
  • Communicate event status to the kitchen staff in a timely manner, and assist in inventory control and ordering of supplies.
  • Responsible for gratuity distribution and record keeping, and possess complete knowledge of department positions and responsibilities.
  • Supervise overall departmental activities, and perform banquet food inventory monthly.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and college degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five to eight years previous manager, assistant, or captain position in Banquets.
  • Knowledge of POS systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Work Environment:

The Banquet Manager will work in a high-traffic, high-volume business environment, spending a majority of their time on their feet, standing, walking, or sitting at their desk. The position is indoors and outdoors, with exposure to hot, humid, and/or cold conditions at times. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
