Position Title: Pay for Skills Melt & Pour Level 3

Openings Available: 1

Shift Timing: Third shift, standard hours 12:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Department: Melt & Pour

Supervisor: Will Cleveland

Compensation Type: Hourly

Hourly Rate: $ 25.19

Job Overview: This role encompasses various essential tasks related to the melting and pouring of metals, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pouring Operations:
    - Ensure correct weight and clamp positioning based on mold size.
    - Inspect sprue and risers for accuracy and remove any debris.
    - Follow master instructions for specific requirements.
    - Execute proper pouring techniques, maintaining an even stream and correct height for risers.
    - Implement effective gas removal methods during pouring.
    - Position hot topping and heat tags post-pour.
    - Safely remove clamps and weights once cooled.
  • Ladle Maintenance:
    - Place ladles on preheaters and ignite safely.
    - Repair or replace ladle linings, including safety liners.
    - Fabricate ceramic pots for hand shanks.
  • Furnace Assistance:
    - Utilize heat logs to weigh raw materials accurately.
    - Deliver appropriate charges to designated decks in sequence.
    - Conduct cycle counts as required.
  • Melt Scheduling:
    - Organize molds for the desired alloy and quantity.
    - Stamp heat tags with corresponding heat numbers.
    - Document pouring data, including temperatures and serial numbers.
    - Maintain logs for heat identification, ladles, and test bars.
  • Metal Melting:
    - Verify charge materials against heat logs.
    - Melt metal heats according to established procedures.
    - Keep detailed records of furnace operations and maintenance.
  • General Duties:
    - Adhere to safe work practices and report quality issues promptly.
    - Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
    - Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Skills: Proficiency in basic arithmetic and comprehension of shop documentation.

Physical Abilities: Must be capable of lifting up to 75 pounds.

Work Environment: Typical foundry conditions.
