As a Heavy Equipment Operator - Road Maintenance Specialist with The State of Oklahoma, you will play a critical role in ensuring the state's roadways are safe and well-maintained.
Job SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Operator - Road Maintenance Specialist. In this position, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment and performing related tasks to maintain and repair highways.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate various types of heavy equipment, including trucks, tractors, road graders, dozers, front-end loaders, cranes, backhoes, paint machines, semi-trailers, snow removal equipment, and other machinery as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Conduct repairs on roadway shoulders or bridge decks as needed.
- Install, repair, and replace signs, posts, guardrails, and fences along highways.
- Provide traffic control assistance by directing highway traffic using a stop/slow sign or flag.
- Apply herbicides to control weeds and unwanted vegetation in highway right-of-ways.
- Remove debris, including tires, animal carcasses, spilled items, and other obstacles from highways.
- A valid Oklahoma driver's license at the time of employment.
- Possession of a valid Oklahoma commercial driver's license, class A or B, with appropriate endorsements referenced in United States Department of Transportation Title 47, Chapter 6, Section 101 et seq., may be required by some agencies.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and regularly lift 80 pounds.
- Good vision, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
The State of Oklahoma offers a competitive salary range of $40,000 - $46,500 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
