Certified Medical Coder

Rennova Health, Inc. is seeking a skilled Certified Medical Coder to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for accurately reviewing patient records and assigning appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to clinical documentation and official coding guidelines.
- Work closely with healthcare providers and clinical staff to ensure coding is completed optimally and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Review medical record information and documentation for appropriate code assignment, including principal diagnosis, co-morbidities, and complications.
- Responsible for coding multiple departments, including inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services.
- Monitor assigned work queues to ensure all records are charged in a timely manner.
- Generate coding queries for clarification regarding physician documentation as needed.
- Assist in the maintenance of hospital records and statistics, correcting data and verifying when necessary.
- Consult with manager or other resources to resolve difficult codes and coding problems.
- Maintain knowledge of and conduct all activities in accordance with regulatory compliance requirements, including HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Attend continuing education and coding education as scheduled.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- AHIMA/AAPC CPC, CCA, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care coding experience in one or more specialties.
- Experience in a hospital/medical clinic setting, with Rural Health coding/billing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
- Ability to maintain productivity levels and a 95% coding accuracy rate.
- Demonstrated understanding of payer relationships, requirements, and compliant billing practices.
