Job Overview

AmpThink is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with expertise in both milling and lathe operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a solid history of machining intricate components and performing setups on CNC machinery. Our company delivers engineering solutions and precision-manufactured parts to various sectors, including Defense, Energy, Healthcare, Electronics, and Telecommunications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all documentation associated with the task is accurate and aligns with the job traveler.
  • Analyze blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to ascertain dimensions and tolerances of the finished product.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on the machinery.
  • Calculate and adjust controls to manage machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or input commands to retrieve, edit, or modify computerized machine control media.
  • Perform dimensional First Article Inspection (FAI) using calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Confirm that finished parts meet specified requirements.
  • Follow setup sheet instructions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Record time spent on jobs accurately.
  • Initiate and oversee machine operations to identify malfunctions or deviations from tolerances, making necessary adjustments.
  • Promptly report any machining or tolerance issues to shop supervisors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work status and requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in CNC machining.
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical drawings, bills of material, and specifications.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to remain on your feet for the majority of the workday.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
