Job Summary

The Registered Radiologist Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing patient care in radiology services, working under the supervision of a radiologist. This position is responsible for determining procedure appropriateness, obtaining informed consent, and performing or assisting with noninvasive and invasive radiology procedures using image guidance as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews variances identified through pre-procedural evaluation and discusses with the supervising radiologist prior to the procedure.
  • Performs or assists the radiologist with radiology procedures, including obtaining informed consent and patient history and physical.
  • Evaluates images for completeness and diagnostic quality, reports initial observations to the delegating radiologist, and communicates the radiologist report to healthcare providers.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients, radiologic technologists, radiologists, and other healthcare team members.
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a Registered Radiologist Assistant.
  • Current Certification as a Registered Radiologist Assistant by ARRT and Virginia State licensure as a Radiologist Assistant.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of previous work experience, preferably in an academic medical center environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree with post-baccalaureate training from an academic program encompassing a nationally recognized radiologist assistant curriculum.
Working Conditions

The Registered Radiologist Assistant works in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities and frequent customer interactions. The role requires prolonged standing, sitting, and walking, as well as exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances.
