Job Summary

The City of Rio Rancho, NM is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Inspector to join our team. As an Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that new construction and remodeling projects comply with local, state, and national building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of new construction and remodeling projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Review construction plans to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Issue written notices of code violations and notify contractors/owners thereof.
  • Gather evidence and prepare reports on code violation-related complaints.
  • Assist and advise design professionals, contractors, and the general public on code compliance.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of certified journeyman level EE98J experience in electrical trades or combined experience and educational substitute approved by the State of New Mexico.
  • Knowledge of applicable New Mexico Administrative Code (NMAC), the National Electrical Code (NEC), and related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to type rapidly and accurately and use technology, equipment, and software typically used in the office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ICC Residential and/or ICC Commercial certification upon hire.
  • Experience in multiple disciplines (i.e., Building or Plumbing/Mechanical).
