Clinical Nutrition Director

The Director of Clinical Nutrition is responsible for overseeing the organization's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. This role will manage and mentor a team of Clinical Nutrition Managers and the Centralized Diet Office, supporting an integrated health system with multiple acute care and long-term care sites. The Director will develop and implement nutrition policies, guidelines, and protocols while ensuring compliance with regulations and dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and implement clinical nutrition programs based on the health system's medical direction and patient population.
- Hire, lead, direct, and coach clinical nutrition managers and centralized diet office leadership.
- Foster teamwork and establish effective strategies to implement innovative programs, leading to optimal clinical nutrition and financial outcomes.
- Oversee or conduct the evaluation of clinical nutrition managers according to departmental policy and take appropriate action as necessary.
- Monitor competence, productivity, and documentation accuracy of clinical staff using necessary tools and resources.
- Participate in staffing analysis to ensure adequate staffing in collaboration with others.
- Evaluate and coordinate system-wide nutrition formulary, working closely with the system Medical Directors to establish standardized diet requirements across the health system.
- Provide medical nutrition therapy when necessary, such as in the absence of the clinical nutrition managers.
- Assess the nutritional status of neonates/infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patients through documentation in the medical record, using parameters such as anthropometric measurements, nutrition-focused nutritional assessment, and interpretation of laboratory values.
- Make recommendations for patient care based on guidelines in the absence of the nutrition manager.
- Incorporate current evidence-based research into practice.
- Communicate effectively with all food and nutrition leadership.
- Develop and direct programs/services in an organized, collaborative, and customer-centered manner.
- Review and approve system menus in collaboration with food and nutrition management at each entity.
- Ensure clinical staff's assistance in achieving patient satisfaction goals.
- Participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program.
- Participate in meetings where departmental goals are established and implement assigned action plans to achieve expected outcomes.
- In the absence of the Vice President, Food and Nutrition, the Director of Clinical Nutrition provides leadership and oversight of Food and Nutrition services.

$85,000.00 - $130,000.00 City: Rochester Postal Code: 14617The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
