Job Summary:

Lancaster General Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team at LGH Podiatry. As a CMA, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team. This is a part-time position, and you will work a varied schedule, Monday through Friday, with no holidays or weekends. You will be required to travel to other locations, including Parkesburg, Kissel Hill, and Norlanco.

Responsibilities:

As a CMA, you will be responsible for preparing patients for visits, administering injections, and providing gross observations to the provider or licensed nurse. You will also prepare and administer medications as prescribed by the provider, in accordance with federal and state regulations. Additionally, you will assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and other exams as designated by the provider. You will perform Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests. You will remove sutures and change dressings on wounds as necessary. You will provide clinical advice by phone/electronic correspondence in accordance with established triage protocols and relay information to the patient. You will authorize prescription refills as directed by the provider. You will assist in test tracking and monitoring overdue results. You will assure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit. You will maintain and clean medical instruments and equipment after each procedure. You will assist with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services. You will perform care coordination activities among specialists and transitions of care to obtain all necessary patient information. You will assist in the coordination of referrals, education, and community resources. You will actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care. You will participate in daily huddles with the provider. You will serve as a patient experience advocate by being always a positive influence when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues. You will communicate with all patients, visitors, and colleagues in a professional manner while keeping customer service a top priority. You will handle all patient information in a confidential manner according to Lancaster General Health privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures. For LGHP, this role may necessitate occasional regional travel. You will travel regularly to various sites within the region to support operational needs. You will assist at new practices and sites by mentoring and leading other team members during the initial onboarding period. You will participate in special projects as assigned. You will perform various front office responsibilities as necessary. You will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or general equivalent (GED) and medical assistant certification from an accredited institution (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR). If you are not currently certified, you must have completed a medical assistant training/education program prior to hire and receive your medical assistant certification within six (6) months of hire. You must also have CPR certification required: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider (AHA Heart Saver AMA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. For regional positions only, you must have a valid driver's license. You must be a healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e., not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal or state health insurance program. You must have one (1) to two (2) years of medical assistant experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office. You must be able to perform all job functions safely.
