Position Summary:
The Junior Forestry Specialist will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s forestry initiatives. This position involves conducting assessments of tree populations, formulating specifications for tree removals, and supervising the removal processes. Additionally, the specialist will be tasked with creating and executing vegetation management plans and performing evaluations of tree-related risks.
Qualifications:
We welcome candidates who possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related discipline with 0-2 years of relevant experience in utility forestry.
- [OR] An Associate degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field accompanied by 2 or more years of relevant experience in utility forestry.
- [OR] A High School Diploma with 4 or more years of relevant experience in utility forestry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary liaison for clients, offering expert advice on tree risk evaluations, inventories, valuations, and removal processes.
- Conduct site assessments on company assets located on customer properties to evaluate tree health, identify potential hazards, and propose solutions. Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations for each site.
- Collaborate with various departments within the organization to enhance knowledge of forestry best practices.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns, ensuring resolution to issues.
- Assist with restoration efforts following storm events in collaboration with external crews.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objectives of the department.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of tree biology and risk assessment methodologies.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GIS software.
Work Environment:
The majority of the work will be conducted outdoors, engaging in field operations.
