Role Summary:

The Bus Driver-Relief is responsible for operating designated routes on a part-time basis, ensuring the safe and timely transport of passengers, including those with mobility challenges. This role requires maintaining a clean vehicle, conducting pre-trip inspections, and adhering to established schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate assigned routes independently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of the vehicle.
  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Transport passengers in wheelchairs, requiring physical maneuvering.
  • Identify and address any issues that arise during transport.
  • Evacuate passengers safely in emergencies.
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs as necessary.
  • Follow the bus route and schedule diligently, capable of driving for a minimum of 3 hours without a break.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and DOT card.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately.
  • Learn and navigate routes independently.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding any changes to routes or schedules.
  • Ensure passenger safety and compliance with traffic laws.
  • Report any traffic violations promptly.
  • Secure passengers and their belongings appropriately during transit.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel, and incidents.
  • Check and replenish first aid and emergency supplies as needed.
  • Fuel the vehicle as directed.
  • Report any accidents or emergencies immediately.

Qualifications:

  • Clean driving record with a minimum of three years of commercial driving experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Physical capability to perform lifting and maneuvering tasks.
  • At least 2 years of driving experience.
  • Valid US Driver's license with no more than 2 points on the driving record.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
