Nurse Educator Position

Job Description:

The Nurse Educator will be an expert in industry education standards, supporting and guiding caregivers in self-improvement and self-development. The Nurse Educator will assess, guide, support, coordinate, and evaluate caregivers' orientation and ongoing learning needs in alignment with their associated program, service, or care group.

Under the direction of the Education Manager, the Nurse Educator will be a resource, consultant, and mentor to caregivers and clinical coaches in their assigned area, fostering self-reliance and building a social team.

The RN Educator may be asked to travel to various locations to perform their work duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides clinical expertise relating to assigned area for patients, families, and various healthcare professionals.
  • Utilizes the nursing process for each patient through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Assists in coordinating a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care with other members of the care team.
Education and Training:
  • Provides individual and group education to patients and families.
  • Provides accurate assessments of a patient's physical and emotional status, identifies learning needs, and any unique special requirements needed to facilitate a positive learning environment for the patient, patient support/family, and the community in the applicable specialty area.
  • Acts as a resource person to healthcare professionals in the hospital, home care, and the community regarding specialty area.
  • Consults with physicians regarding patient treatment and educational plans.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current/valid Registered Nurse license from the state licensing board is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
  • May be required to have additional specialty certifications.
  • Three (3) years relevant nursing experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
  • Previous formal education activities are preferred.
Work Environment:

The Nurse Educator will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, requiring regular attendance and effective communication with staff and patients.

The Nurse Educator will be expected to maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients and demonstrate sound judgment and composure in questionable or emergency situations.

The Nurse Educator will be required to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and navigate crowded and busy rooms.
