Job Description

The Clinical Sports Medicine Specialist provides comprehensive athletic training services and manages medical care for athletes during events, adhering to professional standards and ethical guidelines.

About the Role

This role requires a New York state license, relevant certifications, and a commitment to continuous education and adaptability. The specialist will practice within the parameters of their state of practice license bylaws and follow the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association and Board of Certification.

Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic trainer services for athletic events and competition.
  • Coordinate, manage, and implement the medical and risk management of all athletes, inclusive of preventative care (taping, bracing, etc.) and emergency care (CPR, first aid, etc.).
  • Document injury, illness, treatment, rehabilitation, etc., in adherence with JAG Athletic Training policy, contracted site policy, and state of licensure professional practice standards.
  • Collaborate with other JAG professionals in programs such as Physical Therapy and refer for service when needed.
  • Regularly communicate with supervising physicians regarding standard operating procedures developed in agreement with the physician.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training (CAATE Approved program).
  • Completion of the BOC certification.
  • Maintain the BOC-required 50 CEU's per certification period (every two years).
  • Licensed by the State of New York as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Maintain Personal Liability Insurance.
Estimated Salary Range

$55,000 - $70,000 per year.
