Job Summary

Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties at construction sites. This role requires physical labor and the ability to perform a variety of tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up work as required and follow instructions from superintendents, foremen, and experienced crew members.
  • Perform all required duties with a focus on safety and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Read and understand warning signs, operating instructions for equipment, jobsite safety rules, and jobsite policies.
  • Learn to observe the functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine potential hazards.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field or a related area.
  • Working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
Work Environment

This role requires constant movement around a construction/industrial site, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. The person in this position will work in a construction environment and be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions. Irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays may be required.

This role may involve using ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas, which may exceed 200 feet. The person in this position must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. They must also be able to move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces.

This role requires the ability to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment and may involve moving items weighing up to 50 pounds across the construction/industrial site. The person in this position must have the required tools and be able to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
