Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team in Truro, NS. Reporting directly to the Controller, the successful candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting, with a focus on developing and analyzing key performance indicators. This role requires collaboration with various departments, including Operations and Accounting, to ensure effective prioritization and organization of tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting operations
- Oversee the complete monthly accounting cycle and accounts payable activities
- Guide and mentor the Accounts Payable Clerk and shared service Accountant
- Provide analytical support, forecasting, and reporting to senior management
- Generate weekly and monthly financial reports, highlighting key metrics and variance analysis
- Review month-end reconciliation documentation
- Implement process improvement initiatives as assigned
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting efforts
- Prepare the year-end audit file and liaise with external auditors
- Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA designation with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team or independently as needed
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with Sage 300 is considered an asset
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in the transportation or courier sector is advantageous
