Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team in Truro, NS. Reporting directly to the Controller, the successful candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting, with a focus on developing and analyzing key performance indicators. This role requires collaboration with various departments, including Operations and Accounting, to ensure effective prioritization and organization of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily accounting operations
  • Oversee the complete monthly accounting cycle and accounts payable activities
  • Guide and mentor the Accounts Payable Clerk and shared service Accountant
  • Provide analytical support, forecasting, and reporting to senior management
  • Generate weekly and monthly financial reports, highlighting key metrics and variance analysis
  • Review month-end reconciliation documentation
  • Implement process improvement initiatives as assigned
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting efforts
  • Prepare the year-end audit file and liaise with external auditors
  • Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team or independently as needed
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with Sage 300 is considered an asset
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in the transportation or courier sector is advantageous
