Job Summary

As a Building Maintenance Specialist, you will engage in multi-craft work to operate, maintain, repair, and modify building equipment and structures. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial building maintenance and the ability to work in varying physical environments.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operate, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  2. Perform controlled maintenance inspections and take necessary actions to keep equipment in safe and efficient operating order.
  3. Maintain and repair lab and kitchen equipment, building plumbing, and electrical systems.
  4. Engage in remodeling and construction work within the scope of developed skills.
  5. Conserve energy of all utilities and perform duties in a manner that minimizes environmental impact.
Requirements
  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial building maintenance.
  2. Reading, writing, and English speaking skills.
  3. Ability to work in varying physical environments, including heights and outside weather.
  4. Valid Illinois driver's license.
  5. Ability to be contacted by telephone for emergencies and respond to the College within 30 minutes.
  6. Ability to work from a ladder and on feet for at least 8 hours.
  7. Working experience of steam and hot water boilers, water treatment, and electrical systems up to 480 volts.
  8. Knowledge of HVAC controls, kitchen equipment, and absorbers and chillers.
  9. Ability to lift 100lbs.
  10. EPA - Refrigerant Recovery Act - Universal Certification.
Physical Demands

Heavy (up to 100lbs occasionally or 50lbs frequently or 25lbs constantly)

Work Environment

Loud noise, outdoor weather, hazards, close quarters, vibration, fumes, or airborne particles.
