Position Summary:

The School-Based Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) plays a crucial role in providing treatment to referred clients within an educational environment. Responsibilities include receiving referrals from schools, offering direct consultation services, supervising support staff, and managing clinically related administrative tasks. The PTA embodies the philosophy, objectives, and culture of Constellation Health Services.

This role operates Monday through Friday, aligning with the academic calendar.

Qualifications:

  • Must have graduated from an APT accredited program with at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Current registration with the American Physical Therapy Certification Board and a valid Connecticut State License to practice Physical Therapy are required.
  • Candidates who are eligible for licensure may also be considered.
  • Experience in a pediatric environment is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs and executes intervention strategies through direct therapy, monitoring, and consultation.
  • Conducts screenings for children and formulates suitable recommendations.
  • Engages in the IEP process, collaborating with the school team for consensual decision-making.
  • Communicates effectively with educational personnel, administrators, parents, and community members, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of interventions, goals, and objectives.
  • Facilitates transitions among various agencies, programs, and professionals as service provision evolves.
  • May oversee Level I/Level II fieldwork students.
  • Recognizes emergency situations and takes appropriate actions to ensure child safety.
