We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our Core Laboratory, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of clinical activities
- Work alongside coworkers to ensure good patient care and customer service
- Resolve issues and complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting at the bench level
- Triage assignments to staff based on coverage needs
- Ensure all laboratory quality indicators are met
- Develop and implement a coverage plan and notify team members in case of call outs
- Document and communicate problems that arise during shift
- Act as a role model and advocate for compliance with policies and procedures
- Serve as a contact for outside departments and customers
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field
- MLS/MT (ASCP), MT (NCA), or MT (AMT) certification
- Two years of experience at the medical laboratory technologist, medical laboratory technician, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist level
- Knowledge of laboratory quality indicators and ability to develop a coverage plan
- Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science
- ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligibility and ability to receive BOC within a year
- Competitive salary range: $24.13-$34.70 (Hiring Range)
