Job Summary

As a Large Lathe Machinist at Graham Corporation and Subsidiaries, you will be responsible for operating engine lathes to perform various machining operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of precision measuring tools and be able to read drawings and follow instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate engine lathes to perform turning, facing, boring, threading, reaming, and other standard lathe operations.
  • Select and adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to achieve high-quality results.
  • Maintain quality standards to tolerances as required, using measuring devices such as scales, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Grind high-speed and carbide cutting tools as needed.
  • Supply personal tools such as scales, squares, and hammers.
  • Observe safe work procedures and maintain good housekeeping standards.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and BOCES training.
  • Must pass proficiency test.

Working Conditions:

May be required to move items up to 60 pounds for distances of up to 10 feet. May be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods of time. Considerable amount of work done above floor level. May be exposed to fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, and moderate to loud noise levels. Must wear appropriate gear and clothing as necessary.
