Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

Employment Type: Full Time - 12-hour Shifts

Shift Patterns: Day/Midnight or Night shifts (Hours: 7a-7p / 7p-7a)

Location: Newark, DE

Overview: For the fourth consecutive year, our Cardiovascular Critical Care Complex unit has been awarded a prestigious gold-level Beacon Award from the AACN. This recognition underscores our commitment to excellence in patient care.

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular ICU will encounter a variety of rewarding and demanding experiences while caring for patients with cardiac medical and surgical needs. The role offers opportunities to work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including cardiologists and medical residents, as well as cardiac surgeons and physician assistants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in daily multidisciplinary patient-focused rounds.
  • Provide comprehensive care for high-acuity cardiac patients.
  • Administer and titrate multiple vasoactive medications.
  • Conduct invasive hemodynamic monitoring and manage ventilators.
  • Oversee rapid weaning processes and the use of intra-aortic balloon pumps, CRRT, and ventricular assist devices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or a commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of hire.
  • Experience in caring for high-acuity patients is essential.
  • A minimum of two years of stepdown experience is required.
  • Previous critical care experience is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and proficiency in cardiac dysrhythmia are required.
  • Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Delaware is necessary.
