Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Johns Hopkins Medicine. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during surgical procedures.
  • Perform sponge and sharps counts to ensure patient safety.
  • Provide solutions to the surgeons and ensure there are no breaks in sterile technique.
Work Environment

Our Pediatric and Peds/Adult Congenital Cardiac OR has 10 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms. Nurses scrub and circulate, and the surgical subspecialties include pediatric general surgery, cardiac, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, orthopedics, urology, plastic, burns, trauma, transplant, gastrointestinal, fetal surgery, and dental.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technology training program or equivalent Surg Tech Military training/work experience is required.
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted.
