Cardiac Sonographer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to provide high-quality cardiac ultrasound services for adult patients in McKinney, TX. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional capable of performing both basic and advanced procedures, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Preparation: Gather clinical history and physical findings related to cardiac health to prepare patients for procedures.
  • Ultrasound Procedures: Perform a variety of cardiac ultrasound procedures, from basic to advanced, ensuring accurate, high-quality results.
  • Abnormality Identification: Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, adjusting the examination scope as necessary to address specific clinical questions.
  • Procedure Assistance: Assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms, providing echocardiographic studies to support complex procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and manage Echocardiography Lab equipment, ensuring functionality and reporting any malfunctions.
  • Resource and Support: Act as a resource for staff, physicians, and students, offering guidance on procedures, techniques, and equipment usage.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Education and Certification: Graduate of an accredited program or 2 years of experience above the minimum qualifications, with certification in one of the following: Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS.
  • Basic Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and approved clinical protocols for cardiovascular ultrasound examinations, skilled use of sonographic instrumentation and techniques, and proficiency in infection control practices and patient confidentiality laws.
