Job Summary
The Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health provides direct clinical patient care to patients with mental health conditions. This role assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per shift basis. The Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health is responsible for supervising staff to ensure appropriate care is delegated and is accountable for supporting the Chief Nursing Officer to ensure high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients.
- Assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
- Directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, quality improvement, and infection control.
- Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy.
- Performs and fulfills all Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster.
- Responsible for knowing the Hospital's emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.
Education and Experience
- Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
- Preferred: Recent acute care experience.
Certifications
- Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
- Required: AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
