We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at Miller Cooper. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in developing project proposals, analyzing costs, and ensuring the accuracy of our estimates.
About the Role
- Develop project proposals, including labor and material estimates, to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
- Analyze and refine our proprietary database to improve the accuracy of our estimates.
- Collaborate with our sales team to ensure project margins and details are aligned.
- Monitor and maintain the consistency of customer pricing.
- Create preliminary project duration plans and estimated work schedules.
- Conduct turnover meetings with senior project engineers and other team members.
- Prioritize timely completion of proposals and ensure delivery to customers.
- Complete job hazard analysis and project-specific safety plans as required.
- Conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Requirements
- 3+ years of work experience in flooring or a related construction industry; 2 years as an Estimator for a construction specialty subcontractor preferred.
- Associates degree in a related field of study preferred.
- Ability to travel to job sites within a 200-mile radius of Chicago.
- MS Office Suite experience, including strong Access and Excel skills.
- Estimating software experience preferred and ability to learn our proprietary software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and project specifications.
- Strong customer service focus with excellent interpersonal skills.
