Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee to join our team at the State of Pennsylvania. As a Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee, you will be responsible for operating heavy construction machinery, including heavy trucks and loaders, and performing manual labor tasks with powered and non-powered tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy construction machinery, including heavy trucks and loaders, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, such as shoveling, hammering, and using chain saws and patching machines.
  • Conduct pre-and post-operation checks on equipment to ensure safe operation and minimize wear.
  • Use various hand and foot controls, wear seat belts, and manage tire chains on dual wheels.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures and using protective gear.
  • Report any personal injuries or equipment incidents, including near-misses, to receive appropriate care.
  • Implement environmental protection measures related to maintenance tasks and comply with environmental management standards.
Requirements
  • Valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.
