Physical Therapy Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our rehabilitation staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physical therapists in delivering top-notch treatment.
Responsibilities- Clean and maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized after each use.
- Assist patients in practicing functional activities under the guidance of medical staff, promoting independence and progress.
- Record treatment sessions and maintain accurate records of equipment usage.
- Manage inventory and stock levels of treatment supplies, ensuring timely restocking as needed.
- Administer manual therapeutic exercises, massage, or other modalities as directed by medical staff, enhancing patient comfort and recovery.
- Transport patients safely between treatment areas using wheelchairs or providing support as necessary.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors, colleagues, and patients, conveying information via phone, written, or verbal means.
- Gather and process information from various sources, applying critical thinking skills to resolve issues effectively.
- Perform clerical tasks, such as answering phones and scheduling appointments, ensuring seamless patient flow.
- Provide outstanding customer service, fostering positive relationships with patients and their families.
- Prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to fast-paced environments, maintaining a calm and composed demeanor.
- Varying shifts: Monday-Thursday 7a-9p, Friday 7a-7p.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; previous experience in a related field preferred.
- One year of experience in physical therapy or a medical office setting highly desirable.
The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $45,000-$55,000, depending on location and relevant experience. This figure may be adjusted based on internal equity and market standards.
