Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Barnesville Hospital Association, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and analyzing clinical laboratory tests, maintaining quality control, and ensuring accurate results.
Key Responsibilities- Process and analyze samples in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to established procedures and protocols.
- Set up, run, and maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Take appropriate action to ensure quality control in all technical areas, adhering to infection control procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Complete forms and reports findings to nurses and/or physicians, providing accurate and timely information.
- Interact with healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret patient lab results, demonstrating strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Perform routine and basic laboratory testing within designated areas, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Recognize testing inconsistencies and take corrective action, ensuring accurate results.
- Maintain accurate, neat, and legible records of patient and specimen information.
- Adhere to hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring a safe environment for workers, patients, and the public.
- Comply with hospital and departmental policies and procedures for safety, security, and infection control.
- Communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and hospital staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory or Laboratory Sciences (MLT).
- Current WV Licensure as a Medical Technician within 90 days of hire.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring strong multitasking and communication skills. The successful candidate will work in a laboratory setting, surrounded by strong or unpleasant odors, and may be exposed to agents that may cause serious disease.
