Job Summary

Laboratory Scientists work closely with the healthcare team to gather and provide crucial laboratory information that aids in patient diagnosis and treatment. This involves using advanced instrumentation to perform testing in various lab areas.

  • Perform and interpret tests at all complexity levels
  • Correlate abnormal laboratory data with pathological states
  • Determine the validity of test results and the need for additional tests

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate test results, reference ranges, specimen requirements, and other pertinent information
  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results
  • Adhere to quality control policies and document quality control activities, instrument calibration, and maintenance performed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from a four-year college or university
  • One year of training in an approved program with registry (eligible)/certification at a Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist level
  • Meet CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel grandfathering clauses
Preferred Qualifications

Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or certification eligible from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)

One year Generalist experience in chemistry and hematology
