The Nurse Practitioner is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing primary health care to patients through assessment, diagnosis, and management. This role requires the ability to work independently, following established procedures and protocols, and to refer questionable situations to a physician as needed.
Responsibilities- Administers injections, immunizations, and oral medications, and starts IVs as needed.
- Assists physicians by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders, and transcribing orders.
- Provides counseling and education to patients and their families.
- Billing for patient services in accordance with CMS and NJ State Board Regulations.
- Demonstrates knowledge and judgment to provide appropriate care for patients.
- Develops plans of care for patients in coordination with the multidisciplinary team and completes reports to physicians and families.
- Documents and maintains patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards.
- Establishes collaborative relationships with other medical providers.
- Examines patients to determine the presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, and medical history.
- Interviews, instructs, and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
- Issues prescriptions to patients based on Federal and State Regulations.
- Orders and reviews laboratory and diagnostic procedures, and reviews all lab data and documents.
- Participates in the development of protocols.
- Performs and obtains completed medical histories and physical data on patients with appropriate documentation and findings.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliant policies such as HIPAA, OSHA, and Code of Conduct.
- Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice.
- Reviews and audits charts routinely.
- Sutures wounds, incises and drains wounds, and repairs lacerations.
- Works in collaboration with a physician to diagnose conditions as necessary.
