As an Operations Concepts Lead, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Space Development Agency's Tranche 2 Tracking Layer program, which is essential for providing advanced missile warning, tracking, and defense capabilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the creation of the Operations Concepts, Design Description Document, and Operations Handbook using Model-Based Systems Engineering and modern web documentation techniques in an Agile setting.
  • Facilitating CONOPS Working Groups to synchronize efforts among customers, contractors, and industry partners.
  • Developing tools, processes, and methodologies to streamline the generation, testing, and configuration management of operational and test command scripts.
  • Innovating tools and techniques for interfacing and automating tasks with Cameo MBSE software, GitLab, Jira, and other engineering platforms.
  • Creating novel ways to present and visualize engineering data and documentation in a web-based format.
  • Managing the CONOPS documentation through the change control process.
  • Defining and breaking down operational, testing, and calibration activities from the system level to individual components.
  • Ensuring that the requirements baseline encompasses all necessary functions.
  • Collaborating with Test and Command/Control teams to ensure that test scripts and operational software accurately reflect system functions.
  • Working alongside Flight Software and Database teams to guarantee proper implementation and coverage of system CONOPS.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience in one or more Systems Engineering functions, including:

  • System trade studies, CONOPS, and/or System modeling.
  • Requirements, Interface Control Document (ICD), or Interface Definition Document (IDD) development.
  • System Integration, Fault Management, Testing, and/or Verification.
  • Test planning and execution with an understanding of interdependencies.

Desired Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in spacecraft or ground system architecture design, development, integration, and testing, with knowledge of space, missile, and launch systems.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-functional teams and coordinate efforts towards common objectives.
  • Experience leading geographically diverse teams with strong leadership attributes.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers effectively.
  • Experience in developing CONOPS, Operator Handbooks, or other Systems Engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (Cameo, Rhapsody, etc.).
  • Proficiency in a software scripting/programming language (e.g., Python, HTML, Matlab, Visual Basic, C/C++, etc.).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, GitLab).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build consensus among team members.
  • Demonstrated systems thinking skills to solve problems and implement effective changes.
