Carpenter Grade I Job Description

Amentum is seeking a skilled Carpenter Grade I to join our team. As a Carpenter Grade I, you will be responsible for performing carpentry construction work, including framing, hanging drywall, and installing/repairing carpet tiles, acoustical ceilings, and doors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and lay out work to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
  • Perform carpentry buildings and grounds maintenance work, including minor masonry and concrete work.
  • Read blueprints and generate bills of materials.
  • Provide oversight to outside contractors and direct Carpenter II and M/M Helpers as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.
  • Thorough knowledge of the carpentry trade.
  • Ability to operate power tools and machinery as required.
  • Willingness to work shift, including days, evenings, and nights, as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Education and Experience:
  • High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Four years' experience in trade or building maintenance.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship, vocational or internal developmental program for a journeyman carpenter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Security Clearance:

Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.

Physical Demands:

Incumbents may work in conditions that require operating industrial machinery/power tools and motor vehicles. Additionally, incumbents may participate in work that requires walking, bending, squatting, and carrying materials throughout the facility.
