Unit Overview: Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a 64-bed facility dedicated to assisting patients in overcoming both functional and medical challenges.

Patient Care Focus: We cater to orthopedic patients recovering from procedures such as hip fractures, complex knee replacements, and back surgeries involving neurological issues, as well as multi-trauma cases and other orthopedic conditions. Additionally, we support neurology patients on their journey to recovery from strokes, brain and spinal cord tumors, traumatic brain injuries, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and various cancer diagnoses that have led to functional decline. Our unit also accommodates patients who have undergone amputations and face other intricate medical or surgical challenges.

Therapeutic Engagement: Patients engage in a comprehensive 15 hours of therapy throughout the week, with nursing staff continuing the therapeutic interventions to ensure safe mobility. For many, rehabilitation is essential for returning home to their families.

Work Environment: This unit offers a deeply fulfilling experience, as staff witness firsthand the progress patients make towards their goal of returning home.

Role Responsibilities: The Registered Nurse (RN) operates under the ANA scope of practice, employing the nursing process to deliver professional care. This includes:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patients.
  • Providing quality care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies.
  • Collaborating with patients and families to incorporate their input into care planning and developing educational strategies.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess an Associate's or Diploma in Nursing. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required within five years for new graduates or RNs with less than one year of experience. Those from non-accredited nursing schools must have at least one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed healthcare role, along with successful completion of the NCLEX licensure examination. A Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license is required within 60 days of hire, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory upon hire.

Work Schedule: This position is full-time, with night shifts scheduled from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including variable days and every third weekend.
