Position Overview:
As a Practical Nurse, you will engage in the delivery of nursing care within the framework established by Carilion Clinic's patient care strategies. Your role will involve collaboration with Registered Nurses to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients across various age groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement practical nursing duties in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with the RN to gather essential patient data and contribute to care planning.
- Utilize knowledge of patient development stages to provide appropriate care.
- Engage in the nursing process for a diverse patient population.
- Assist in creating and maintaining comprehensive patient care plans.
- Identify and address educational needs of patients and their families, integrating this into care strategies.
- Administer prescribed medications and execute therapeutic interventions as directed.
- Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights and providing necessary emotional and cultural support.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and support organizational goals.
- Contribute to the training and development of new nursing staff.
Qualifications:
Education: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
Experience: No prior experience required.
Licensure and Certification: Must hold a valid practical nursing license in Virginia. Certification in AHA BLS-HCP is required. Training in de-escalation techniques for Psychiatry and Behavioral Health must be completed within the initial months of employment.
Additional Requirements: Successful completion of orientation and competency assessments is mandatory. Candidates must be capable of fulfilling essential job functions.
