We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Early Learning Special Education Assistant at the Cedar Rapids Community School District. This role will provide support to our early childhood education team, working closely with students, teachers, and staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and support students in a classroom setting, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Work collaboratively with professional staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
- Monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to teachers and staff.
- Assist with daily classroom activities, including setup, cleanup, and organization.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
- At least 12 credit hours in early childhood education or related field.
- Current CDA credential or equivalent.
- Two years of post-secondary education or Paraeducator certificate.
- Ability to work well with others, including students, teachers, and staff.
- Flexibility in working with classroom teachers and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them.
The work environment is typically quiet, with occasional noise from students and staff. The employee will work in different areas of the classroom, including at desks, on or near the floor, and in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities. The employee may work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
