The CT Technologist, under the supervision of the department manager and lead technologist, is responsible for executing a range of procedures utilizing ionizing radiation. Specific responsibilities include the following, in accordance with departmental guidelines. Building positive interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders is essential and aligns with Prisma Health's mission. The technologist will perform CT scans as instructed by the Manager and maintain effective communication with physicians and relevant personnel. Key Responsibilities
- Identify patients and their respective procedures. Communicate effectively with nursing staff or physicians regarding patient needs. Complete CT and female questionnaires for patients aged 12-55. Accurately position patients for all CT examinations to ensure optimal visibility of anatomy. Maintain in-depth knowledge of scanning protocols and execute procedures accurately, referencing the protocol book as needed. Ensure timely completion of studies and prompt delivery to the radiologist for interpretation. Document the completion time of procedures on the patient board. Archive films and ensure they are sent to the radiologist for review. Prepare the examination room with necessary supplies and maintain cleanliness and organization at all times. Ensure that adequate supplies and linens are available, and clean tables and trays after each patient. Utilize proper techniques for IV contrast injections, confirming IV functionality with saline prior to use. Demonstrate proficiency in imaging workstation operations, including 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction. Respond appropriately to emergency situations. - 50%
- Provide clear explanations of CT procedures to patients and/or their family members. Gather completed questionnaires and relevant medical history from patients, nursing staff, or physician offices. Keep patients and families informed of any delays. Train colleagues and students as needed. Assist fellow technologists when available. - 20%
- Acquire requisitions and verify clinical appropriateness. Document charges for procedures, supplies, and surgical codes upon completion of exams. Ensure accurate recording of no-film badge usage and fluoroscopy time. Add surgical charges as necessary. Operate the PACS system correctly and verify studies before archiving. Report equipment issues to the supervisor and in-charge technologist, documenting confirmation numbers. Complete all required forms for procedures, including contrast sheets for patients receiving IV and rectal contrast. Communicate with radiologists to establish appropriate protocols for each examination. Adhere to prescribed protocols and demonstrate recognition of anatomy and pathology relevant to the scans being processed. Perform warm-up calibrations as required. - 20%

Minimum Qualifications
Certification Program - Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with ARRT certification in CT.
