Medical Assistant Orthopedics Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Orthopedic team at Rocky Mountain Orthopedics in Grand Junction, CO. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare providers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative and clinical support to healthcare providers, including preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, and documenting patient information.
- Assist with routine tests, such as EKGs and hearing and vision screens, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Communicate test results to patients and establish plans of care as directed by healthcare providers.
- Prepare and maintain patient exam rooms, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- Administer medications and vaccines as ordered by healthcare providers.
- Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and concerns to the practice manager and/or healthcare providers.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current BLS certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire upon approval.
- One year of previous experience in a healthcare setting required.
- Successful completion of initial MA onboarding within 90 days, annual skills fair, and in-services for site-specific tasks required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy required.
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Successful completion of an accredited National Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
This position requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. The employee must be able to understand and apply information, policies, procedures, and skills required by the position. The employee must also possess knowledge of medical terminology and medical practice and care to assist in providing safe, quality patient care.
Physical RequirementsThe employee must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. The employee must also be able to verbally communicate and hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. The employee must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
